About Us

Dr Darren Marchant completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland in 1995. Following completion of his medical degree Dr Marchant worked extensively in many hospitals throughout Queensland and Internationally.

Dr Marchant finished his Specialist Orthopaedic Training qualifying with his Orthopaedic Fellowship in 2006. Subsequent to completion of his specialist training Dr Marchant undertook further specialised Fellowship training at the University of Texas Health Science Centre in San Antonio under the direction of Professor Charles Rockwood. This Fellowship consisted of Specialist shoulder surgical training including arthroscopy, arthroplasty, trauma and all other associated conditions of the shoulder. Upon completion of this appointment in San Antonio Dr Marchant completed a further Specialist Fellowship training year at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. This Fellowship appointment consisted of further Specialist training in shoulder, hand, wrist and elbow surgery including elective, semi-elective and trauma procedures. This Fellowship included a focus on micro-surgical techniques including vascular and neurological procedures. This Fellowship was undertaken under the supervision of Professor David Sonnabend, Dr Jeffery Hughes and Professor Michael Tonkin.

In addition to Dr Marchant’s Upper Limb Practice, he continues to have an interest in the assessment and treatment of sporting injuries at all levels. He is directly involved with the Brisbane Bullets, NBL Basketball team, all levels of participation and competition with Basketball Queensland, various State and National sporting teams and has an involvement with the Queensland State of Origin team.
