Following your surgery your first post-operative visit with Dr Marchant is usually 12-14 days after the surgery. At your initial post-operative visit, the therapist will assist Dr Marchant with the removal of any plaster and dressings and attend to the wound.
At this visit (under the supervision of Dr Marchant):
- The plaster will be removed (if present)
- The dressings will be removed

- Dr Marchant will explain the operative findings and ongoing care
- Any questions will be answered
- Physiotherapy exercises will be prescribed if appropriate
- Follow-up appointments will be made

Further appointments will be made depending on what operation you have had. Generally you are seen at the six week and then the twelve week post-surgery mark.
Hand therapy and physiotherapy:
Dr Marchant works closely with hand and physiotherapists who are conveniently located on the same floor at Brisbane Private Hospital.
